EPDCPAAA MINUTES OF APRIL 3, 2008 MEETING

 

The meeting began at 7:05 pm at the Elmhurst Public Library.  39 Members in attendance.

 

The minutes of the March meeting were approved as amended.

 

Special Agent Rita Hedlund from the FAA spoke to us about Hazardous Materials and air travel.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Wally Hastings, our new treasurer, reported that the current balance is over $5,700.  The Treasurer’s Report was approved.

 

President’s Report:  Chuck Freiberger passed around a sig-up sheet for a Code Adam committee.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade:  8 people helped with various duties and also removed signage at the end of the parade.  Chuck suggested that next year we skip duty during the parade and focu our efforts on signage removal at the end of the event, where the department needed the most help.  He read a thank you letter from Sgt. Borroughs to parade volunteers.

 

Class next fall begins Sept 17 – please do your best to recruit a few people to fill the class.  A suggestion was made to put the info in the water bill mailing again this year.

 

Chuck announced that there will be Cool Cars training at our May meeting.  Even if you’re not planning to work Cool Cars, you are still encouraged to attend the training so you’ll know how to use the radios.

 

Safety Committee:  Michael Bram announced that a Sidewalk Sammy/Character Counts flyer will run in the next water bill cycle.

 

Grants Committee:  Deanna Bowser announced that the next meeting will be next Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the PD training room.

 

Our next meeting will be May 1, 2008.  We hope to have Cool Cars Training and Officer Bruce Smith (ret. EPD) will speak to us about Police the hearing impaired.

 

Bob James announced that Cool Cars begins May 28.  Please bring your calendar to next month’s meeting as there will be sign-up sheets for volunteers to assist with this event each Wednesday throughout the summer.  You can also contact Bob via the website:  www.ecpaaa.com  just click the “contact us” link to email Bob with the date(s) you would like to volunteer.
